Joe Profita's palladium prints are exquisite, hand-crafted contact prints made from original film negatives. The image size on the print is therefore the same same size as the image on the negative. A solution of palladium salts is prepared then spread on cotton rag paper. When dry, the coating is sensitive to light. The negative is placed in contact with the sensitized paper where it is held in place with a glass sheet. This is then exposed to ultraviolet light for 2 to 30 minutes to make a positive then rinsed and cleared.
